A: Don't bother with demos for us, if you want to try to get a big label deal, you are probably just wasting your time anyway sending demos, since they want more than demos, they want a proven track record. That's why you should finish a record, send Milk Records the finished record, and then send that to the big labels. Big labels want bands that have made it on a smaller scale, which is what Milk Records helps you to do. So don't send us demos. Q: Is there an up-front cost for selling CDs via your label? A: No, there is no up-front cost. Q: Does Milk Records accept <genre>? A: Milk Records accepts music from all genres. Q: Are you a <genre> Label? A: We do (or would like to) have <genre> artists, but we are not an entirely <genre> label. Q: Should someone who is trying to break into the <genre> sign with Milk Records? A: We feel that Milk Records will be beneficial for an artist no matter what the genre. Q: If I want to release additional recordings on Milk Records, can I? A: Absolutely. You may release as many projects as you want. Q: Do you wish to have copies of the lyrics? A: Only if you want us to have them. We will not censor you in any way. Q: Is the artist allowed do create his own artwork? A: The artist is encouraged to create his own artwork and this can be emailed to us or sent in the mail. Q: What if the artist does not want to design his own artwork? A: We have several different art designers you could work with. The price will depend a lot upon the sort of work you want done. Q: Does Milk Records set the release date? A: If you want one we will set one, but you can name a release date if you want. Q: Does Milk Records take care of he copyright or does the artist have to do it on his own? A: Legally, you have a copyright in your music once you put it in a fixed form (like a CD). You do not get full copyright protection unless you register your copyright. Milk Records will help you copyright your music, go to Register My Copyright site for more information. Q: Does Milk Records pay for studio time? A: No, but we can help you locate some great studios or see the list by location. Q: Does Milk Records accept foreign (non-USA) artists? A: Yes. We welcome all artists. Q: Do you sell records in the physical world at all; i.e., distribution to record stores? A: We have a few record stores that sell our material, but we choose to concentrate on the internet, since it is a much broader audience and we see it as the future of distribution. Q: Does Milk have any plans for vinyl releases? A: No, sorry we do not have any vinyl Q: How will Milk Records help me sell my album? A: Milk Records has world-wide distribution through the internet. We take credit cards and ship the album. We are designed to be the artists' record label, we try hard to give every artist what the artist wants. |
